Note on Transmission Orientation
Transmission Orientation defines the direction of the IR transmission window. This is dictated by the installation style determined by the Fab, based on the AMHS vehicle type they are using.
Using the product image at the top of this page:
“Side-On” orientation has the IR transmission coming out of the screen towards the viewer. The front “side” of the optical transceiver (showing the P/N and indicator LEDs) would face the delivery vehicle’s internal optical transceiver.
“Head-On” orientation has the IR transmission coming out the top of the unit, towards the viewer’s ceiling. The “head” of the optical transceiver would point to the delivery vehicle’s internal optical transceiver.

As an alternative to the standard parallel I/O, GCI provides the RJ-11 Optical Transceiver. RJ-11 allows greater flexibility for installment of the transceivers, while retaining compatibility with the parallel interface.
